A Northern Youth Group known as the ‘Northern Youths Initiative for Peace and Good Governance’ has frowned at the statement attributed to a Former Vice President of Nigeria, and Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar (GCON) where he linked Mr Seyi Tinubu with Hitech Construction Company, a company in charge of the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
The former Vice President had in a statement signed by his Special Adviser Mr Paul Ibe alleged that the speedy signing of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Contract being handled by Hitech Group was because of the fact that Me Seyi Tinubu is a board member of a riles and sanitary towel manufacturing company which he claims they both belong to the Chagoury Family.
In a statement signed by the President of the Northern Youth Group Alhaji Umar Farouk Lawal and made available to this medium on Tuesday 7th May, 2024 he said
“We find it pertinent to enlighten the general populace that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar a serial loser at the presidential poll has not recover from the 2023 general election lost, hence he is bent on tarnishing the image of the Tinubu’s family.”
“Let it be on record that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project was conceived during Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure, later restructured and approved by the Federal Executive Council led by President Muhammadu Buhari. As such, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR considered the importance of the project to the development of the country and gave the impetus to embark on the project.”
“It is imperative for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to note that Mr Seyi Tinubu has been sitting on the board of CDK since 2018, at that time, the idea of his father contesting for the Nigeria’s echelon position has not emanated, as such the position postulated by the ex Vice President remain inconsequential but an attempt blackmail Seyi Tinubu.”
“While as Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria and Chairman National Economic Council, the Wazirin Adamawa has maintained his business links with Intels that won major port concession deals.”
“For the sake of educating the failed politician, the Chagourys are minority shareholders in the company, and only one member of the clan is on its five-man board, General TY Danjuma (rtd) is the Chairman of CDK and the highest shareholder of the company.”
The group called on Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to desist from what they described as a “campaign of calumny” against the Family of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
