The Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan has called for the inclusion of women with disabilities in the scheme of things, especially in process of women empowerment and development.
Chief Burki made this known on Friday 8th March 2024 while commenting on the 2024 International Women’s Day Celebration. Commenting on theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Inspire Inclusion’, which emphasises the importance of inspiring women to be included, fostering a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment, Chief Burki said it underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality.
Chief Burki noted however that while women’s rights are being advocated for and projected, women living with disabilities must be integrated the planning and execution.
Chief Burki also used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Plateau State Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang for the provisions made to accommodate persons living with disabilities on the Tin City Metro Bus Services. General Manager of the Plateau Express Services Ltd Samuel Gwott Jot had unvealed 14 brand new Metro Buses and showed that persons using wheelchairs could come on board as well as persons living with disabilities without wheelchairs
