Senate Committee Commends Jos South LGA for Project Completion

The Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration, led by Engr. Tayo Adebayo, conducted an inspection tour of Jos South Local Government Council as part of its annual oversight function, praising the council’s commitment to completing inherited projects and improving service delivery. 



Engr. Adebayo expressed satisfaction with the level of development in the local government, stating that Plateau State remains exemplary in local government administration. 

In a statement by the
Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Christie Pam Makut, it was noted that the committee inspected several projects, including a 90% completed bridge at gura dabwan linking Tanchol and Nyango community of Gyel, Renovation of the hospital at Nyango ntah Gyel, Construction of a town hall at Chugwi Vwang district, Conversion/renovation of the LGA guest house to corpers at Kuru, an ICT center at the Secretariat and the Completion of the Local Government chapel, all initiated by previous administrations but completed under the current leadership. 


The committee disclosed that the inspection was aimed at identifying the best-performing local governments for the Nigerian Local Government Excellence Award, to be presented during an upcoming national summit. Adebayo explained that this is to encourage efficiency and ensure councils remain accountable to the people.

In his response, the Jos South Chairman Hon Silas Patrick Dung emphasized his administration’s commitment to completing people-centered projects, regardless of their origin. 


He revealed that the council would soon award new contracts, ensuring strict supervision and timely delivery.  The chairman assured residents that all available resources would be channeled into development, reinforcing the council’s dedication to improving livelihoods.
