The Plateau State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has presented an appointment letter to Ambassador Yahaya Kwande as the new Long-Kwo of the Kwo Chiefdom, of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area on Second Class status. This was disclosed in a statement by the Information Officer of the Ministry, Edward Bulus Damwesh.
The ceremony took place at the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and was attended by the Chairman of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council and some traditional rulers in the Kwo Chiefdom.

Presenting the appointment letter to the New Long Kwo, the Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Ephraim Usman Gar said the presentation indicated government’s commitment to recognizing the role of traditional rulers and community development in the state.
He emphasized that the traditional institution plays a vital role in promoting peace, stability and development in the society.
The commissioner urged the new monarch to work closely with the government to address the needs of Kwo Chiefdom and ensure the unity and welfare of his people.
In his goodwill message, the chairman of Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council, Mr. Christopher Manship commended the Kwo chiefdom kingmakers for a peaceful selection process.
He called on the new Long Kwo to use his wealth of experience and social network to unite the people and bring development to his community.
Responding, the new Long Kwo, Ambassador Yahaya Kwande thanked the Plateau State Government for the appointment letter and pledged to work assiduously to promote peace, unity and development of the Kwo chiefdom.
He also acknowledged the support of the government and people of Plateau State and assured of his commitment to serving the community along with his team.
