The Deputy Chairman of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kanam LGA of Plateau State Alhaji Dauda Maimako has finally confirmed his defection from the APC to ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The confirmation came today Thursday September 19th 2024, when the APC Deputy Chairman Alhaji Dauda Maimako visited the Honorable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Leader of the PDP in Kanam LGA Hon Ephraim Usman in his office in Jos to confirm his loyalty to the administration of the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang and the PDP. He shortly after the meeting with the Honorable Commissioner took a picture with him which has been widely circulated on social media.
His defect from the APC to the PDP follows the defection of notable political big wigs in Kanam LGA which was once considered the strong hold of the APC. Those who recently defected from the APC to the PDP Including the immediate past Executive Chairman of Kanam of LGA Alhaji (Dr) Dayyabu Yusuf Garga and the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly Rt Hon Saleh Shehu Yipmong who both defected with some former aides to the immediate past Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong, members of the immediate past legislative arm of Kanam Local Government Council, APC EXCO members at the Ward and LGA levels as well as thousands of their supporters across Kanam LGA.
Kanam LGA has in the past been the strong hold of the APC in Plateau State, it is the home of Rt Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi (Ph.D, OON), the Member Representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency at the National Assembly and Chairman House Committee on Navy, who is currently serving his second term.
