The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang has approved the relaxation of the 24 Hours Curfew aarlier Imposed on the Jos-Bukuru Metropolis.
The curfew now takes effect 6pm daily and expired 2pm the next day. Meaning that persons and vehicles are allowed to move for four (4) hours, i.e from 4pm to 6pm daily.
In a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere on Wednesday 7th August 2024, it was noted that the decision was reached following the improvement of the security situation in Jos in the last 48 hours and in consultation with security agencies in the State.
The governor called for vigilance to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order, while assuring commitment of government to consider further review of the curfew as the situation improves. He called on the public to cooperate with security agencies and report any suspicious activities for immediate action.
Governor Mutfwang assured the public of the unwavering commitment of government to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
Part of the statement reads “Following the improvement in security situation within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis, the Plateau State Government has announced a relaxation of the earlier imposed 24-hour curfew. Effective from Wednesday, August 7, 2024, residents of the area can now move freely between the hours of 2pm and 6pm daily until further notice.”

He emphasized the importance of maintaining vigilance to prevent any potential breakdown of law and order and assured that government will continue to review the curfew as the situation improved.”
