Former Majority Leader Plateau State House of Assembly Henry Yunkwap returns to PDP

A former Member representing Shendam State Constituency and Majority in the Plateau State House of Assembly from 2015 to 2019 Hon. Henry Yunkwap has to returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with his supporters.Yunkwap who earlier left the PDP shortly after the party’s primaries leading to the 2023 general elections to labour party to contest elections.

The former Majority Leader said he had been in talks with the PDP leadership in Shendam Local Government Area, as well as at the state level for months before moving back to the party.

On Sunday 9th June, 2024, while declaring his return and presenting a letter to the PDP Chairman of Derteng Federal Ward, Hon Yunkwap said his decision to return to his former party the PDP was born out of the track records and democratic dividends Governor Caleb Mutfwang has demonstrated and delivered in the State, adding that the PDP has been his home and remains the choice of the people in the state.

According to him his track record and wealth of experience as a grassroot politician will help in stabilizing the party in the state especially in his constituency as he will corporate and partner with stakeholders of the party in moving the party forward.

Receiving the former Majority Leader and some of his supporters, PDP Chairman, Derteng Federal Ward John Nanwe said the return of Henry Yunkwap to the PDP is a big win for the people and the party, adding that he will add to the growth of the party, now that the ward congresses of the party is around the corner. He stressed that the stage is set for a bigger, better and brighter future for the party.

He urged the returnees to abide by the rules and regulations of the Party as the umbrella is big enough to accommodate a lot of people and all will find a place of abode. He congratulated them on their return and called for unity among them.
