The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has reiterated the commitment of his administration to do more despite the achievements of the last one year. The Governor made this known on Wednesday May 29th 2024 while inspecting the completed road interventions in the State. Addressing journalists along the newly rehabilitated Bukuru Lowcost – National Open University Road in Jos, Governor Mutfwang said that though he was happy with the quality of work, more will still be done.

“We are happy with what we have seen so far. We cannot be satisfied at this stage. We are hoping that this is just the beginning of beginnings for us. We are promised Plateau people that we have come to provide leadership to change the story of our state. And we are determined by God’s grace to walk the talk. So we are happy with what we have seen. But I can tell Plateau people that we are not satisfied. And our appetite is to give more and better for Plateau people.”
Responding to questions regarding those calling whose structures were demolished and are demanding for compensation the Governor said that those with genuine concerns should approach government formally, ne called on all Plateau people to respect the town planning law for the general safety of the populace.
“Well, first of all, we don’t just embark on demolitions for the sake of demolition. We always want to see our people prosper, progress. I therefore want to appeal to all plateau people that there is a town planning law and laws are made for the safety of all of us. When buildings are erected anyhow, it constitutes a hazard to human health. And as a responsible government would not watch and see how those kind of misapplications of the land use is done.”
“If anybody has a legitimate complain that is within the confines of law, he will bring it up for us to see and we will be able to look at it and see how to mitigate that loss. But if he also built illegally and he comes to complain, we may also prosecute him. So let him count the cost before he brings it up. But we are determined to beautify the city and by the Grace of God we will pursue that agenda vigorously”.

Earlier, Governor Caleb Mutfwang also visited National Orthopedic Hospital Jos, located at the Old JUTH where construction and renovation of the structures were in going ahead of the commencement of operations at the hospital. The Governor raised some observations about the quality of work to the contractor, while urging the contractor to expedite action ahead of the official handing over of the structures to government.

The Governor also interacted with staff and students of the College of Nursing Campus in JUTH, Jos, while also promising interventions in the school to make studying better for students.

The Governor had earlier commissioned the control and monitoring office of the Jos Metro Bus Services in Rayfield, then inspect the rehabilitated road network behind Plateau Specialist Hospital linking hospital road with the Plateau State Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board and Plateau State Ministry of Lands and Survey, the rehabilitated Bank Road link Amadu Bello Way, the rehabilitated Masallachin Juma’a road linking Ola Hospital – Chobe – Apata – Busabuji Road and ended the inspection at the Bukuru Lowcost – National Open University Road.
