GOC 3 Division Charges students to remain hardworking and excel also in Athletics to take advantage of future opportunities

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander Operation Safe Haven, Major General A. E Abubakar has charged students to consolidate the hardwork they have so far demonstrated in their academics in athletics, this according to him will prepare them and given them the requisite experience required to take advantage of the opportunities unfolding in the sports and athletics world, manifested in the number of successful athletes, sportsmen and women in the world today.

The GOC disclosed this while making his remark at the 41st Command Secondary School Inter-House Sports Competition held at the school’s mini stadium, at the school compound along Zaria Road, Jos.

The GOC who was the Special Guest at the event was represented by the Chief of Staff, Brig. General M. K Sanda. He appreciated teachers for giving their best in the building and shaping of students who will take up the responsibility of building Nigeria. He also thanked parents for their determination to continue to sponsor the education of their children despite the current economic realities, urging them not to relent as their investment in their children is already Yielding results by the level discipline the students are already displaying.


The Chairperson of the event who is the Director/Chief Executive of the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) Vom, Dr Maryam Mohammed who was represented by the Director Diagnostic Serivces of the Institution, Dr Sati Ngulungu pledged her support for the education of students while expressing deep interest in the sports development of students.

In his welcoming remark, the Host and Commandant Command Secondary School, Lt Col. O. A Oduyemi said that the 41st Inter-House Sport Competition has being a historic event thY has united staff, students and parents for over 40 years.


In his own words, he said “It is with immense pleasure and pride that I stand before you today to mark the 41st intersport competition of our esteemed institution. This event marks a significant milestone in the history of our school, a tradition that has united us in the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence for over four decades.”

“Sports beyond the  thrills of victory and the agony of defeat embody values that are fundamental to the holistic development of every individual. As we gather here today, we celebrate not only athleticism, but also perseverance, teamwork, discipline and resilience, qualities that extend far beyond the playing field and into the fabric of our lives. In the journey of preparing for this event, our students have exhibited unwavering dedication, rigorous training and a commitment to push boundaries of their capabilities. They have exemplified the spirit of healthy competition, mutual respect and the pursuit of excellence that divides our institution.”

“To the athletes competing today, remember that victory is not solely measured by the medals won or the records broken, but by the character you exhibit, the friendship you forge, and the lesson you learn along the way. Embrace the values of fair play, sportsmanship and integrity, for they are the true marks of champions.”

“I extend my deepest gratitude to the teachers, coaches and staff whose tireless efforts have nurtured the talent and nurtured the dreams of our students. Your guidance, mentorship and unwavering support have been instrumental in chapping them into the athletes and individual they are today.”

“To the parents and guardians, thank you for entrusting us with the education and well being of your children. Your encouragement, enthusiasm and preference here today are testament to your commitment to their growth and development.”

“As we embark on this journey of athletic excellence, let us remember that the true excellence of sports lies not in the outcome of a single event, but in the collective pursuit of excellence, the bounds of friendship, and the memories we create together.”

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, may this entire sports competition be a celebration of unity, sportsmanship, and the indomitable spirit that divides us as a community. Let us share each other on celebrate our victories with grace and embrace our defeat with humility. For it is in this moment that we truly learn and grow.” he concluded.

Other dignitaries recognized at the event include Major General B.A Tsoho, Corps Commander Education, Nigerian Army, LT Col T. Musa, Ag. Director, 3 Division Education Services, Mr I. T Haggai, Former Vice Principal Admin CSSJ as Father of the Day, and Rev Anita Almashi Mother of the Day among many others.

There were categories of athletic events that featured students from other school. Parents also took part in 50 meters races and winners in all categories received prizes at the end of the competition. Dragon House won the overall Best House of the Competition by pulling a total of 225 points.
