The Special Advisers to the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang have disclosed the readiness of the current administration to collaborate with the Media to ensure that the people of Plateau State have a better understanding of the agenda of the Mutfwang led administration.
They also stated that plans are on the way to ensure that interactions are organized in order to acquaint the media with the programs, projects and projections of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
This was disclosed on Tuesday 5th March 2024 by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Strategic Communication, Hon Timothy Golu who spoke on behalf of the others at the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Jos in company of other Special Advisers. He also answers questions as to the backlogs of advert fees being owed by Government, he promised what the matter will be looked into as soon as the list of adverts are compiled and verified.
Hon Golu also addressed the issue of the siege laid on the House of Assembly by the Police. He said that the Mutfwang led administration is law abiding and is aware that the Leadership of the Plateau State House of Assembly Rt Hon Gabriel Dewan Kudanbena would have sworn-in those members-elect who were returned by the Appeal Court but that the house leadership was restrained by two injunctions. He called on parties to wait for those injunctions to be vacated while remaining law abiding.
Recall that in the early hours of Tuesday, men from the Plateau State Police Command who claimed were there to prevent any form of conflict between supporters of the 16 APC lawmakers who tried to force their way into the Assembly building and some PDP supporters loyal to the sacked PDP Lawmakers.
Golu stated that the speaker of the House, Hon. Gabriel Dewan, was hampered in swearing in the 16 lawmakers due to two court injunctions, and that as a law-abiding citizen, he has no alternative but to restrict himself until the suit is resolved.
In his own words Hon Golu said “We just woke up this morning to see the presence of security men around the State House of Assembly. You know the House of Assembly is not sitting in its original location. It has been moved by resolution to the Government House because it was under renovation. The official dealings of the House are being done in the Government House.”
“But everybody knows that there has been an issue in the House of Assembly. The Speaker would have reconvened the House, but he was handicapped because he was served with two injunctions restraining him from swearing in the 16 members that were given judgment by the Court of Appeal, and as a law-abiding government, we will not toy with that until those injunction are vacated.”
“So to see security men there without the consent of the Chief Security Officer of the State and the Speaker, it is threatening because the House with eight members has nothing to do with the traditional vicinity of the House because they are no longer sitting there,” he said.
“This government will not tolerate lawlessness; everything that needs to be done will go through due process, and whatever the outcome, everyone will have to accept it. Nobody should be distracted by what is happening; everything is under control. So we are waiting; whatever the court says, whatever the outcome, we will go from there.”
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs Rt Hon Abubakar Kanam also corroborated and added to the position of Hon Timothy Golu.
