IMPACT Project and DMCMA join hands to drive health delivery, HMB assures of full cooperation

InThe Management of the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (DMCMA), in its bid to strengthening health care delivery to the nooks and crannies of Plateau State, have meet with the project team of the Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Acceleration Coverage and Transformation Services (IMPACT Project) seeking ways in which they could collaborate for the good of the people of Plateau. 

In a statement issued by the Information Officer of the Agency, Fwenji Go’ar,  it wss noted that the Executive Secretary of the DMCMA, Plateau State Pharm. Kim Jerry Bot, in his submission appreciated the IMPACT Project Coordinator, Christopher Bewa and members of his team for granting management of his agency the opportunity to hold this all-Important parley. He said the two bodies are complimentary to each other in the sense that they play strategic roles in the provisions of basic healthcare services, especially to the rural areas.

Pharm. Kim noted that IMPACT Project has the deliverables that the agency could leverage on, in its bid to providing effective healthcare Commodities precisely malaria and immunization commodities logistic and other auxiliary services that would ensure the availability of drugs and medical commodities at PHCs across the State.

Kim described the technical support IMPACT would provide as key and having IMPACT as a foundation member of the agency is a step in the right direction.

The ES said the agency is open to forming linkages and partnerships with relevant government agencies and international institutions in order to bring to fruition the Plateau State Governor’s commitment to healthcare delivery, and to the sustainability of the agency’s operations, in line with His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, The Executive Governor of Plateau State’s administration’s mantra of “The Time is Now”.

The IMPACT Project Coordinator, Christopher Bewa in his response, described the roundtable as apt, and noted that the DMCMA is a critical institution in the implementation of IMPACT activities, particularly in the area of health commodity management and logistics for the project support facilities across Plateau State.

Bewa said now that the DMCMA has come onboard, the issue of out-of-stock drugs in most of the Primary Health Care Centres will be addressed, and would equally ensure quality drugs/medical commodities, thereby checkmate fake drugs in health facilities. IMPACT Project is a financing body for the selected PHCs, and has put in place mechanisms to monitor the application of the investment funds by PHCs to ensure transparency so that the goal of having affordable healthcare services to the rural people is achieved. That, he says this partnership with the DMCMA is strategic.

The Project Coordinator applauded the Plateau State Government’s foresight in attracting the project to the State and assured of living up to it responsibility in achieving the mandate of the project.

In a related development the Plateau State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) has assured the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (DMCMA) of full cooperation. This was disclosed through its Chief Medical Director, Dr Benjamin Sumi Garkuwa, when the management of the Plateau State Drugs and Medical Commodities Management Agency (DMCMA) visited the Headquarters of the board assurances of their cooperation and support in to ensure that the health sector is improved in the State.

Pharm Kim Jerry Bot the Executive Secretary of the DMCMA led management of the agency to the premises of the board at Constitutional Hill Road, Jos for an inter agency advocacy visit.

Pharm. Kim described the visit as “homecoming” to a body which was a “key driver, and the best place to disburse the activities of the DMCMA.”

He reiterated that delivering healthcare services was key to the Governor’s desire to have a better Plateau.

He intimated the board of activities of the DMCMA, and shared also the agency’s desire of expanding in such a way that would allow for it to own one or two products in its name.

The CMD, Dr. Sumi described Pharm Kim Jerry Bot as a very vibrant Chief Executive who has a very impressive CV, and commended His Excellency Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for looking for seasoned technocrats who can deliver.

He urged that these crop of appointees, himself included must not fail His Excellency by all means, God our helper.
