DG PEPSA visits JMDB, seeks Collaboration to ensure cleaner and organized Plateau State

The Director General, Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) Mr Samuel Dapiya was at the office of the General Manager, Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB), Architect Hart Bankat on Wednesday 28th February 2024. Mr Dapiya was at the office of the GM JMDB in company of some members of the PEPSA management team on a courtesy call to seek for further collaboration between PEPSA and JMDB to ensure that Plateau State is clean and organised inline with the mandate of Governor Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang to ensure a clean and green Plateau State.

Mr Dapiya appreciated the management and staff of JMDB for their support and cooperation during observation and enforcement of the February Environmental Sanitation Exercise. He identified JMDB as a major stakeholder in the sanitation and organisation of the Jos Metropolis, stressing that going forward, monthly environmental sanitations will be enforced with strong collaboration between PEPSA and JMDB. He called for greater collaboration in ensuring that the Jos-Bukuru Metropolis is decongested and organised giving way for free movement of vehicle and clear water ways.

Responding, General Manager Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) Arch Hart Bankat thanked the DG PEPSA and his team for the visit, describing it as timely. He called for more inter-agency collaboration to enhance better tax collections, sanitation and Urban organisation in the interest of Plateau people.

Arch Bankat also hinted on plans by JMDB to commence demolition of illegal structures within the area covering the Greater Jos Master Plan. He also pointed out that soon enough JMDB will commence clearing of the Terminus Market area to Bauchi Road to make way for the Operation of the New Metro Buses recently acquired by the Plateau State Government. He also raised the need for PEPSA and JMDB to look into the issues of Public Toilets within Jos City Center. He pledged his support and that of JMDB to PEPSA in order to make Plateau cleaner and organised.
