Enforcement of Environmental Sanitation scheduled for 17 LGAs, not Jos only – Mr Samuel Dapiya DG PEPSA

The Director General of the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) Mr Samuel Dapiya has said that the monthly environmental sanitation for the month of February which is scheduled for tomorrow Saturday February 24th 2024 cuts across the entire 17 LGAs of Plateau State and not Jos only, as erroneously asserted by many.

He added that the leadership of the Association of Local Governments in Nigeria (ALGON) in Plateau State was communicated and so far, there have been positive responses from the Local Government Chairmen to ensure that the exercise is observed.

The DG PEPSA, Mr Dapiya made this known while responding to question on Jay FM 101.9’s politics and current affairs program ‘Nigeria At Sunset’ anchored by Hosts Ponsak Fanap and Gilbet Joshua.

Mr Dapiya also said informed that there will total restriction of both humans and vehicular movements, stressing that only those on essential duty and those who have received official pass from the agency will be allowed to.move around. He noted that staff of  ‘Moulds Construction Company’ were exempted from the restriction of movement because they were involved in the ongoing road rehabilitation across the state capital.

He called on citizens to take responsibility and use the period of their stay at home between 7:30am – 10am to clean their environment, adding that persons who are not on the list of essential services caught violating that ban on movement or loitering will be tried by a mobile court immediately.
