The Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center has distributed 102 Tricycle Wheelchairs to beneficiaries in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. This was done on the request of a member of the National Youths Service Corps serving in the Gamawa LGA, Miss Khadija Lukman, who also graduated 100 students from skills acquisition program, as part of her Personal Community Development Service (CDS).
In his Remark, the Chief Executive Director of Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan congratulated beneficiaries and thanked Khadija Lukman for embarking on such an initiative to reach out to persons living with disabilities. He noted that the philosophy at Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center has always been that ‘disability is not the kiss of death’. He encouraged beneficiaries to make use of the wheelchairs to go to school, learn a vocation or start a business in order to be self sufficient. He expressed delight and prayed that NYSC will be strengthen to enable corps members embark on impactful projects during their service year, as their contribution to Nation building just as Khadija has done.
State Coordinator NYSC Bauchi State, Mrs Rifkatu Daniel Yakubu commended Corps Member Khadija Lukman for her resilience in the initiative adding that it was anchored on the core values of the Community Development Service concept on the NYSC. She reiterated the commitment of NYSC in helping corps members execute community development programs and project for the good of Nigeria. She extended the deep appreciation of NYSC to the Executive Director of the Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan for providing 102 tricycle wheelchair for beneficiaries as part of the community development project of Corps Member Khadija Lukman.
The Executive Chairman of Gamawa LGA of Bauchi State Alhaji Nasiru Bakura commended NYSC for quality of corps members they have been sending to his LGA, stressing that he will continue to provide the needed support for them to succeed. The thanked the Executive Director, Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center, Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan for always reaching out to persons living with disability, especially in his LGA where hundreds have benefited from his philanthropy. He presented Chief Burki with a ram as a token of appreciation for his support for humanity.
