The Executive Governor of Plateau State Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang has reinstated 3879 Civil servants who were employed by the administration of his predecessor, now Senator Simon Lalong. This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State Arch Samuel Nanchang Jatau and released on Wednesday 21st February 2024.
According to the statement the 3,879 civil servants reinstated cut across 42 Ministries, Departments and Agencies whose employment was done under the supervision of the State Civil Service Commission, as well as the Office of the Head of Civil Service.
This puts to rest months of back and forth concerning the qualification of those employed, and the authenticity of the process through which the workers were employed. The Government had announced the suspension of the entire employment in June 2023 pending investigation and recommendation by a whitepaper committee set up to look into the process in accordance with civil service procedure.
The statement however upheld the cancellation of the employments done by Tertiary Institutions under the last administration and ordered the immediate commencement of processes for fresh employment in the affected institutions.
