The Executive Governor of Plateau State,  Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has affirmed his administration’s dedication to collaborating with federal agencies to aid in the resettlement of communities displaced by recent terrorist attacks in the state. This was disclosed during a courtesy visit by the Zonal Director of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alh. Bashir Idris Garga, at the Governor’s residence in Rayfield, Jos.

In a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Affairs Gyang Bere on Friday 16th February 2024, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the urgent need for coordinated efforts to address the impact of natural disasters and the unfortunate consequences of terrorism, banditry, and violent assaults, which have uprooted numerous communities across Plateau and beyond.

Governor Mutfwang commended NEMA for its relief efforts and expressed his commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency to meet global standards.

He extended gratitude to Vice President Kashim Shettima and the Director General of NEMA for appointing Alh. Bashir Idris Garga as the Zonal Director for North Central, headquartered in Jos, promising unwavering support for effective interventions.

Alh. Bashir Idris Garga had earlier conveyed appreciation for the Governor’s hospitality and assured continued support from the Agency to address the needs of the displaced population in the state.

He outlined plans to extend assistance to victims in Mangu affected by recent security breaches, emphasizing NEMA’s determination to facilitate the rehabilitation and return of affected individuals to their communities.

Garga lamented the recurring security challenges that have left many citizens impoverished and forced them to abandon their homes out of fear.
