The Newly Inaugurated Member Representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency Hon Daniel Asama has apologized to his constituents over his visit to the former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Lalong. Recall that when pictures surfaced on social media showing Hon Daniel Asama with Former Governor Lalong, it generated mixed feelings among his constituents who wondered why his will visit Lalong, despite the fact that there was no record on the former governor declaring support for the now Reps Member in the twilight of the rerun.

Hon Asama was responding to question as a guest on Jay FM’s Politics and Current Affairs Program of Plateau at Sunset on Monday 12th February 2024. Hon Asama clarified that his apology was for those who felt hurt, angered and betrayed by his visit, stressing that he only visited the former governor out of respect. He however stated that his loyalty remains with his people.
Hon Asama narrated that he worked in the Plateau State House of Assembly as a staff for over ten years, and during his sojourn, Former Governor Lalong was one of the Speakers of the House, and at some point he was made the confidential Secretary of the former governor while he was speaker. “If you noticed, I didn’t present my certificate of return to him in that picture, that should tell you much” he added.

He insisted that as a Federal Lawmaker, he could not work in isolation in trying to bring development to his constituents and Plateau State at large, adding that in coming days he would have to visit all Federal Lawmakers and Senators from Plateau State in order to synergize with them to be able to deliver dividends of democracy to his people.
He said the there was no cause for alarm as his actions will not in any way affect to love and loyalty for his people who voted massively for him in the interest of Plateau State and not because of his party. He thanked the Executive Governor of Plateau State His Excellency Barrister Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for giving him the opportunity to become a Federal Lawmaker, adding that he will not disappoint.
Hon Daniel Assama was elected as Member Representing Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency along side Prince Pam Mwadkon as Senator Representing Plateau North Senatorial District in the Saturday 3rd February National Assembly Rerun. The PDP had adopted both of them when INEC delisted the party from the ballot.
